I have been using microsoft 365 outlook to get my tiscali emails on my laptop, but part way through friday 17th February they stopped and it has not worked since. I am getting the error message 0x800CC0E cannot connect to the server. It is the same on my smart phone and on my tablet. I have checked my settings and the only thing I can find that is different is that where it says IMAP Host Name it says imap.tiscali.co.uk otherwise it has the correct ports and security type.
Please can anyone help. I find the webmail difficult to use for my needs

Hi YL365, I've added your mailbox to those to be restored to normal function. Please allow 48 hours for the change to complete.

I have now changed the outgoing encryption to STARTLS in microsoft 365. I have done nothing with gmail as I do not use this to get my tiscali emails.
Thank you for your help I will wait and see what happens now. I have spoken to talktalk support over the phone twice and nobody has told me that I simply needed to change the serve name to talktalk.net from tiscali.co.uk. This could have all been resolved 10days ago.

Still not quite there.
The outgoing encryption must be STARTTLS for Outlook 365 (and Gmail app) for it to work (when device access is restored).
OK, as you're almost there I've requested that full access is restored for the email address mailbox in your Community profile, Personal information, Private notes.
TalkTalk Support will respond here and access returned within a couple of days after that. Until then use TalkTalk Mail webmail via an up to date Internet browser to keep in touch with email contacts.

Thanks JT

The Oppo A57 default email app is the Gmail app.
Gmail app
Select the cog icon Settings, select the TalkTalk email account, scroll down to Server settings
Incoming settings
Username: Full TalkTalk email address
Password: TalkTalk email password
Server: mail.talktalk.net
Port: 993
Security Type: SSL/TLS
Outgoing settings
Require sign-in: ON (switch to the right)
Username: Full TalkTalk email address
Password: TalkTalk email password
SMTP server: smtp.talktalk.net
Port: 587
Security type: STARTTLS
The current Outlook app for Android will set up secure mail by default.
Outlook 365 supports secure mail and to update go via the Advanced setup settings of an email profile, as in this example for Windows 10.
At that point on your device you ought to see the Outlook setup to enter the TalkTalk Mail server settings: NB All talktalk domains use the exact same IMAP secure settings.
Supported Outlook 365 settings for IMAP email accounts are:
Account Type | IMAP secure |
Username | Full Tiscali email address |
Password | Tiscali email password |
Incoming mail server | mail.talktalk.net |
Incoming Port (IMAP) | 993 |
Incoming Connection Security | SSL/TLS |
Outgoing mail server | smtp.talktalk.net |
Outgoing Port | 587 |
Outgoing Connection Security | STARTTLS |
My Outgoing Server Requires Authentication | Yes |
Authentication Method | Normal Password (Not SPA) |
However, Outlook 365 will not authenticate a connection until TalkTalk restore full access.
For a definitive check of settings take screenshots of the incoming and outgoing server settings, image edit to obscure the first part of the email address and upload here using the Camera icon (desktop browser) or Picture icon (mobile browser) above this reply area.
As you can see, you should no longer be using the tiscali host server names but use the talktalk.net servers and the encryption / security types shown.

I have not received any message from TalkTalk informing me that I am using unencrypted email settings to receive my emails.
Below are the settings as they are set on my computer and my phone and as I said these seem to match what you say they should be set at so I am not sure as to what else I need to do.
My phone is an Oppo57 and I am using the outlook app to get my emails and the settings are set as follows:
IMAP Incoming Email Server: imap.tiscali.co.uk
Port: 993
Security Type: SSL/TLS
SMTP Outgoing Email Server: smtp.tiscali.co.uk
Port: 587
Security Type: SSL/TLS
On my computer as I have already said I am using microsoft 365 outlook and the settings are set as follows:
Incoming mail
Server: imap.tiscali.co.uk
Port: 993
Security Type: SSL/TLS
Port: 587
Security Type: SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail
Server: smtp.tiscali.co.uk
Port: 587
Security Type: STARTTLS
I have updated my profile with the information you have requested
Thanks JT

You're obviously still using legacy settings for the Tiscali email account even though Outlook 365 is capable of secure mail sending and receiving.
If you saw the message from TalkTalk advising "Our records show that you are still accessing your email using unencrypted email settings, because of this you will no longer be able to receive or send emails via this email app or software" then the email address receiving that notification has been limited to webmail only access as a last resort action by TalkTalk to stop the use of insecure email.
TalkTalk Mail webmail is secure by design using an up to date Internet browser.
Select here: Sign in to TalkTalk Mail
Enter your full TalkTalk Mail email address and password, select Sign in.
You will be able to get email access restored to email apps or software including mail collection services, passwords will then re-authenticate, so long as you're ready to use up to date and secure email settings for all the ways you view emails. We can advise on device and software compatibility and provide customer setup guides. Just let us know each mail collection service, each device, its operating system and email software including version that are in current use.
For a definitive check of settings take screenshots of the incoming and outgoing server settings, image edit to obscure the first part of the email address and upload here using the Camera icon (desktop browser) or Picture icon (mobile browser) above this reply area.
When you confirm the secure settings are ready I can request TalkTalk Support to restore full access. TalkTalk Support will respond here and access will be restored usually within a couple of working days.
