POP3 - Thunderbird reports incorrect certificate

As per title, for historical reasons I use POP3 on laptop and connect using Thunderbird. For last 2 days it has not allowed connection as it says certificate is incorrect, and currently (not using TT but a phone as hotspot) it reports "Unable to establish TLS connection to POP3 server. The server may be down or may be incorrectly configured. Please verify the correct configuration in the Server Settings for your mail server in the Account Settings window and try again.".

On my phone, not using POP3, connection is fine.

Are you using IMAP on your phone?

It's best to use the same on each device.

There is now no staff support on the forum, but issues like this in thunderbird, if other devices are sending and receiving mail ok and all is good using Webmail, can often be solved by deleting your account from Thunderbird and setting it up again.

As said IMAP is preferable but if you have a need to use POP (which only you can decide) then you could try that again, but if it still fails then try IMAP.

Also, as it's a thunderbird issue, staff, even if you contact them via a different channel, will not be able to offer assistance, as their focus will be on Webmail issues.

From the 29th of March our TalkTalk Community will move to peer-to-peer support and the TalkTalk team will no longer be here to support with queries. Don’t worry we still have plenty of ways to reach out if you need to speak to TalkTalk directly. For more details check out the link here: How to contact TalkTalk Broadband - Help & Support.
