Is anybody having problems, as of last night, with something called Vade Secure messing up all talktalk emails? Or is this a Thunderbird problem?

Just in case you don't know, Bit Defender has confirmed they've reverted a recent update which caused this problem. It is wise to run a BD manual update unless you've done one in the last day or so, to ensure you've got the latest version, and then check you've got "Encrypted Web Scan" turned on if you temporarily turned it off.

There's not much I can do if you using client to access your emails, I would advise you use webmail till this is sorted out. Thanks

I agree, but it works until Bit Defender fixes the bug.

I had a conversation yesterday with UK Bit Defender support, and sent them diagnostic info. The support guy was apparently aware of some sort of problem, so he said he would escalate it from his end.

I think they will fix it pretty quickly, as there have only been small updates for a while now.

@bigjohnnym

That should be viewed as a temporary solution, unless you are happy to turn off real time scanning of web traffic, or have some other application doing that.

TalkTalk is fine, when there are no issues, but getting issues resolved can be a real headache.
Incorrect information on TalkTalk help pages is unhelpful.

Hi, people!

I asked the question on the Thunderbird community/support site this afternoon, and a very helpful guy called Wayne (I'm sure he's helped me before)  suggested the cause / solution. I'm using Bit Defender security software, which he suspected, and he suggested I should change a setting within the ONLINE THREAT PROTECTION: Change the Online Webscan from On to OFF. I guess it conflicts with their existing cloud-based systems. Restart the PC, Start up Thunderbird, and (if you like) send yourself  a test message. Voila! Problem solved!

Mandisa,

Thanks for your efforts.

Message 16 of 22

@bigjohnnym I can confirm that there are currently no incidents reported regarding the implementation of an additional cloud security system, such as Vade Secure, by TalkTalk. As of now, there are no known issues related to this matter.

Message 17 of 22

Mandisa,

I am already doing that, but I needed to confirm that Talktalk had not inplemented an additional cloud security system,  Vade Secure. Can I assume that TT know nothing about this, please?

Hi @bigjohnnym Could you please provide more details regarding your query about the email issues? Additionally, could you confirm whether you are experiencing this problem while using TalkTalk Web Mail also? Thank you.
