How can I reject emails friom certain addresses such that the sender receives a notification that the mail has been rejected?

What does reject with reason do?

Hi Ady

In mail settings - Rules (for handling incoming mails). After specifying coditions there is an action option - Reject with reason, and a text box opens.

I set a rule to reject wth reason all emails from my gmail address. The mail sent from here was rejected but the text was seemingly ignored and no notification was sent back to my gmail address.

So, is the text box relevant in any way?

Hi, @Alan-W

I wanted to achieve the same.

To automatically respond to a particular sender, and to give the sender a reason why I am rejecting his emails.

I similarly thought, that that command 'Reject with reason' might be the one to use.

However there is no way of knowing, as there appears to be no documentation.

In that command, there is just one empty text box. Would that be, where I, as the rejector, types the reason for the rejection?
