Hi Ady, I can see that you're helping people with this problem but I'm still not sure what I need to do!

I have a onetel account and changed my settings several weeks ago as instructed by the email from TT and everything worked fine, but since Friday I can't get any incoming email in Outlook. Webmail works, and so does my outgoing, but incoming gives me a "your email server rejected your login" error message.

I actually received a message on Thursday afternoon stating that "Our records show that you are still accessing your email using unencrypted email", which isn't true (although I may have not changed the settings on my iphone!)

Does my address now need to be added to a special list for unblocking?

Help, please!

Thanks, Mark.

OK Ady, it was restored yesterday afternoon and is working again now.

Really appreciate the help (and from Gondola and Ferguson!).

Many thanks to all.

Hi Ady

No change so far. Should I wait a bit longer or do we need to escalate in some way?

I also need to do the same for my wife's account. She's set up a profile (Elena1961) and her Onetel account (*removed for security*) has been verified. I've also checked that all of her devices are now using the correct settings.

Can you please arrange to also add her account to the request for restoration?

Thanks for your help Ady.

Hi Mark1962, I've added your mailbox to those to be restored to normal function. Please allow 48 hours for the change to complete.

I still can't see an indicator against your username? Assuming you are a current TalkTalk broadband customer all you need to do is put your landline number in the link I posted earlier.

Done!

Thx

Thanks so much Gondola.

I'll follow up with a message to confirm once they let me back in the club.

Glad you like a bit of nostalgia! 🙂 It looks like you still need to update your community profile, though.

That's all nicely explained. Both devices will be good for secure email and having identified the iPhone as the cause of the notification about insecure settings I'll request that full access is restored to the mailbox. TalkTalk Support will respond right here, hopefully tomorrow. Full access will return soon after.

I've just checked my profile and my email address is tagged as a verified address, so should that be enough for them to act on, and get me unblocked?

Ho do I actually make that request?

Thanks guys...

Thanks Ferguson (love the profile image, by the way - oh happy days!).

One problem for me maybe that I no longer have a Talk Talk phone or account. My only reference is my email address, which I've been using for over 20 years. Will that be enough for them to unblock me?

Hi Gondola - thanks for the quick response.

Outlook is 365 for Business, and iOS is v 16.2, so there shouldn't be any software issue.

My Outlook settings were all updated last year, but I just forgot about the iPhone and I think I had the SSL button switched off, so that's why they've booted me out! All the settings are now correct.

If you didn't update to secure encryption settings or the encryption wasn't to the minimum TLS 1.2 standard on all devices connecting to your mailbox then that's why you got the message that your device access was being removed and you'd be restricted to using webmail.

Was the iPhone using insecure settings i.e. incoming port 110 or 143?

What version Outlook are you using? TalkTalk recommend Outlook 2016 or later. And what's the iPhone iOS operating system?

You may be unwitting still using insecure encryption.
