Broadband drops out for about 10 seconds at a time

I am increasingly experiencing short (about 10 second) dropouts on my broadband. First noticed it with my Amazon Echo and now, as I have started using the TalkTalk TV 4K box, I am much more aware of the problem. Last night, watching terrestrial TV, 3 times in 2 hours there was a message on the screen saying WiFi disconnected and then a few seconds later the whole screen is filled with the TalkTalk TV logo. Then when I watched something on NOW TV later in the evening it dropped the signal twice and I had to reset the app. Looking at other posts it seems that they have been resolved with a new router so perhaps that is what I need?

Hi Debbie,
I have now tried the new router for a few days and it seems to have resolved all my problems. So very many thanks again for resolving this so quickly for me.
Best wishes.
Nicholas

Hi nicholasareeves
Would you like me to send a replacement router so we can rule this out?
Thanks

The broadband dropped out several times on Sunday evening, but had been happening less frequently before then. - perhaps once or twice a day. The problem with BBC iPlayer buffering has happened a few times since I started using the TT 4K box last week. As I explained my one of my posts, what was most odd about it was when I switched to the app,on my LG smart TV the buffering disappeared.

Just checked again and BBC iPlayer now works properly on the TT 4K box. So it seems like it’s some kind of intermittent fault

Since my last post I’ve discovered a new problem, namely when I try to use BBC iPlayer through the TalkTalk 4K Box it buffers constantly - when I switch to the iPlayer app on my smart TV it works perfectly. So could the problem actually be with the 4K Box and not the router? I’ve only just subscribed to TalkTalk TV, but if this persists it’s clearly not worth it.

Thanks for responding so quickly. I am afraid I can’t connect wired as the TV is upstairs and the router is downstairs. For the same reason I can’t check the lights on the router when the line drops as, by the time I get downstairs to check, the connection will have been restored - as I said, it’s only down for 10 seconds or so. Up until recently the connect has been quite stable which was why ‘ thought something must have changed in the router - or is there another possible explanation?

Morning,
I'm sorry to hear this. I've run a test on the line now which hasn't detected a fault and the connection looks stable. Can I just confirm, is the connection stable if you connect wired? Have you noticed if any of the lights change when the connection drops?
Thanks
