Constant router disconnects

This evening, my router (TP-Link Archer VR2100) disconnected and reconnected at least half a dozen times over the course of about 90 minutes. Each time it was increasingly slow in terms of sync speed and is currently syncing at 25949 when it should be 40000 plus.

Nothing has changed, either with hardware, cabling  or location and it looked very much like a fault on the line.

Any help would be appreciated.

Now you mention it...

The Openreach engineer showed me that fibre has been run to the underground junction very close to my house and that it, basically, just needed commissioning. Do you have any insider information on when that might happen and when I could sign up for a full fibre contract?

Thank you.

Thank you so much for letting us know, is there anything else we can assist you with?

Thank you for that. It is, indeed, the newer model. The interface is much faster and I am now getting a download speed of 45 instead of 36. Result!!!

I shall return the old router in the prepaid envelope.

They will need one or other Sagemcom to be returned, @philipm.

It's possibly worth giving the new one a try, with the TT cable.

Opening the package means you will be able to retrieve the returns bag and prepaid label!

You may find that the new Sagemcom is the Hub3 rather than an earlier model. Worth comparing performance.

Whilst I was waiting for the new router to be delivered I bought a new power supply for my original one. This made it possible to connect up my original WiFi Hub and that is what I am now using.

The Openreach engineer found a line fault external to my property and I am now getting a stable 36 meg connection. Until the next time!!!!!

My question is; what do you want me to do with the new router? It is completely unopened.

@philipm I have ordered a new router, please bring back the old router and test the line using the router that will be delivered in 2-3 working days. Please note that we can only know if there is an issue with the line by using equipment supplied by TalkTalk. If you still having the same issue with the TalkTalk router, please get back to us and inform us.

Ok. That's fair enough. I'll wait for that to arrive and then contact again.

Thanks for all your help so far.

@philipm Simply changing the router won't indicate whether the issue lies with the line and it is not able to be picked up with a third-party router. I will provide you with new equipment, and you will need to use it to determine if the problem is with the line or if your current router requires an update.

Not a lot of that were I live but i can try. Not sure how you can run a test, though, if the router is never up longer than 30 seconds before it resets itself. It's unusable.

Is there any way you can maybe connect to mobile data.

I've had it plugged in for the last 15 or 20 minutes but had to unplug it and put the TP-Link one back on in order to respond to you. The talktalk router simply keeps rebooting itself in a loop. Never stays up for longer than about 30 seconds.
