Copper Line Disconnect - The One Broadband

I had the email I guess we all received about a price increase of £12 if I opted to keep my landline.

I opted for disconnection of landline and keeping Full Fibre Data only at the same price as I currently pay.

Today I received an email from The One Broadband saying they are ready to connect me. Does anybody know if this is a scam or do they have a partnership with TalkTalk?

Any help or information would be very welcome.

Thanks. No I can't see any cease order either. I think this may just be a marketing email trying to get you to sign up with them but, as you say, lets see what they say

Hello Chris - thanks for your response.

It's more of a confirmation that they're actioning an instruction - something I've not put in place.

Here is the text:

We are ready to get you connected

Please see the link below to have a little more information about The One Broadband.

If you have any questions please let us know. We are happy to arrange a call.

Looking forward to connecting you!

Kind regards

The One Broadband Team

I phoned them and they said they will get back to me. I also called TalkTalk and they said no switch order is in place, but they would be unable to stop it from their end if they received such an instruction - even if it didn't originate from me, which is somewhat concerning.

Let's see what The One come back with.

Cheers, Honrado

Thanks Honrado,

Does the email from The One Broadband just appear to be a marketing email asking if you want to transfer your service to them?

@Honrado, in a recent reply on Trustpilot's The One Broadband reviews, the company confirm that they have nothing to do with Talktalk:

Contact Talktalk immediately on 03451 720088 or using Chat, @Honrado.

You need to check that no one has put in an application with the other company at your address, and put a stop to it / clarify your situation with them.

Sometimes errors happen innocently with a slip of the finger but it can be malicious  / a phishing scam.

Hi Honrado,

Can you please update your community profile to include your:

  • Name
  • Telephone number
  • Alternative contact number

We'll then look into this further. Please do not post this information on this thread. Once you've updated your profile please post in your topic to confirm it's updated.

Thanks
Chris
