Difficult Fibre Install

I have fibre in the street and TT have offered me a free upgrade. I did not respond to the date and they have now cancelled after sending a new Sagecom modem, and later a bag to send back the old router. My current Router is on the second floor near my computer, connected by cable. I run another cable from the router into the living room to a switch that connects to my streaming DAC and my av computer.  Everything works fine, also with enough wi-fi around the house and to the floor above.  I realize I will eventually have to give up my copper connection.

My front door is in a porch close to the street. From there there is a long staircase up to the  hallway in which there is a door to my study and computer. I think as I want to keep my router in the same place as it is now near the computer. I would have to run a CAT cable to the ONT near the front door and up the stairs across the hall and into my study. I would need to get someone to do this as I cannot manage it myself. I would put it in before the ONT is installed but I am not sure exactly where the ONT would be.

Is it possible for TT to have a look before putting in the ONT and showing me where to put the CAT cable, or failing this to have the ONT put in and keep my current set up until I can get the CAT cable put in?

OK thanks for the clarification. If it's an Openreach circuit then the old service is usually disconnected on the same day as the ONT installation. If it's City Fibre then the old service will usually still be live for a few days after the installation. Unfortunately we can't change this in either case

Sorry if i was not clear. I want to keep my existing copper wire to my modem near my computer working, for say ten days, after the ONT is installed. Then get the ONT turned on and set it up with a cable to the new modem by my computer.

Hi Joeki,

Apologies, I'm not entirely sure what you mean when you say "keeping me existing setup going for a while until the full fibre is installed and I have time to run a CAT cable to it"

Thanks I will ask them. You did not reply to my question about keeping me existing setup going for a while until the full fibre is installed and I have time to run a CAT cable to it.

Hi Joeki,

There's some information in the following help article about Future Fibre installation - How Full Fibre is installed - TalkTalk Help & Support

You would really need to speak to the installation engineer about the location of the ONT, they would be able to advise the best location and where it can and can't be installed
