I intend moving my phone number to VOIP provider so will no longer need a landline. FTTP is not yet available in our area so I was wondering if it is possible to switch from the standard Fibre 65 (FTTC) offering to Fibre 65 without a land line? If so what is the cost compared to the standard Fibre 65 offering?

It's also the case for the FTTC offerings from Zen, who's router has a built in ATA, one stream, V4, Sky/Now, Vodafone, Earth etc according to their websites/the comparison sites. It looks as if TalkTalk maybe one of the few if, not the only, company providing traditional landlines. At a guess this could be because most companies depend on the BT/Openreach exchange equipment whereas, if I remember correctly, TalkTalk installed their own equipment at the exchanges.

Ah, right. They have been migrating FTTC customers to VoIP, that is a feature of the BT subsidiaries alone. They have a proprietary system on their routers which allows this.

@ferguson Plusnet are now only providing broadband only to new FTTC customers, although existing customers can keep their landline. Also nextdoor neighbour who moved to EE (FTTC) was told he could not keep his landline and would have to use they're Digital Voice service if he wanted a landline. It's all part of the BT/Openreach shutdown of the copper network by 2027 which means existing landline connections will, in general, be maintained at least untill FTTP is available but no new connections will be made.

Um, I'm not sure that's the case? Broadband only has become a proposition since the advent of Full Fibre, not before.

Thanks @ferguson have to say it's disappointing talktalk don't offer a discount for FTTC broadband only as broadband only offerings from comparable companies tend to reduced their price for broadband only.

@AllyM yes FTTC uses copper for the final leg but for broadband only lines they disconnect the the phone equipment at the exchange so no phone signal comes down the line. All new installations of FTTC are broadband only (eg if one moved to a new provider like Plusnet, BT ect, you would not get telephone line and would have to use VOIP if you wanted a "landline") and consequently tend to be discounted as it removes the need for telecoms equipment at the exchange and reduces costs.

There is no landline rental charge on an FTTC connection, so the cost doesn't change whether you use it, or not.

Not sure what you're actually asking.
If FTTP isn't available, you'll have to stay on FTTC which by it's very nature is delivered to your home over a copper phone line for the last part of the journey.
