Just received my supposedly new router for my upgraded package to Fibre 65 and discovered it is the same router I have for fast broadband at the moment. It is still not mesh compatible. It is a real pain to set up 3 repeaters and all the other items connected at the moment. I suspect it’s Talk Talk are doing this on purpose to make users to move to full fibre.

Good morning Keith.
i would like to thank you for all your help and for correcting the information available online from Talk Talk pages and router specifications.
Ferguson’s post was the best suggestion and agreed with what I said in the first place.

You can just request a returns bag, instead of making such a big fuss.

To be honest and given what you have said, if you had left your previous set up in place it would have carried on working just fine.

Hi Keith, sorry but you’re not reading my posts properly.
I explained I simply updated from fast broadband to fibre 65 and was sent a 5364 modem.
I don’t have a fault with my original 5364. As I already had a 5364 I said I didn’t see any point of changing one for the other.
Also as I said the 5364 is NOT mesh compatible as you agree without using the additional Fast 266 Wi-Fi Booster. I found the statement on the Talk Talks information page after I received the new 5364 router.
Yes the TP link extenders will work by manually setting them to the same user name and password as the router.
I am sorry if I confused anyone.

Hi @Chali
I support the 5364 router extensively & it is 100% mesh compatible. True, it only supports WiFi 5, whereas the Fast 266 Wi-Fi Booster does support WiFi 6 ( another product that I support). They DO combine together to form a mesh network, despite what you say. However, very few mesh manufacturers' UIs support other manufacturers' mesh products.
Hence, you will not get your TP-Link Wi-Fi Extenders (you do not give any model numbers) to work as a mesh with your Sagemcom FAST 5364 router. They will, however, work connected to the WiFi of the Sagemcom, provided that they can establish a WPS connection.
Where on earth do you get the idea that Wi-Fi 6 is reserved for Full Fibre? The two technologies are not related at all, as I said in my previous post. You could have a Wi-Fi 7 router working on a slow ADSL connection if you wanted, OK, that is pointless, but I make my point.
I would like to point out that the 5364 is not a modem; it is a router with a built-in ADSL/VDSL modem, which will itself also work on a Full Fibre network, but does not have built-in Digital Voice (VoIP) capability.
You do not give any clues as to what fault you have had that led up to the replacement of your 5364, so I cannot comment on that. However, I will be very pleased to help if you want to elaborate on that.

Sorry Keith, The router provided for TalkTalk's Fibre 65 service is the TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub (also known as the Sagemcom FAST 5364). This router features dual-band Wi-Fi, a built-in firewall, and four gigabit Ethernet ports, though it doesn't support newer technologies like Wi-Fi 6 or mesh systems, which are reserved for their Full fibre connections.
I and using TP link extenders and had to set them up manually via their own Tether and NetTP systems. My point is as the new modem is exactly the same as my current one I don’t see any point of changing and setting everything up again just to change like for like.
I naively thought Talk Talk would have supplied and updated modem as there information regarding Fibre 65 says they supply the latest modem available today.

Hi @Chali
The Sagemcom 5364 is most definitely mesh compatible. A mesh system works on the WiFi side of the router; the type of WAN link is therefore irrelevant, whether you are on full fibre or not. It works with the Sagemcom FAST 266 WiFi Booster to form a mesh network. Extra FAST 266s can be added as required.
Please can you state what your problems are & exactly what other equipment you are trying to connect?

You can simply change the WiFi name and password so all your devices can use the new one.
Was there a delivery charge for it?
Talktalk will want one of them sent back, so check for a prepaid label and bag - or let staff know if you need one sent out, @Chali.

I have upgraded from Fast Broadband and have a Sagemcom Fast 5364 original router. I have been supplied the exact same one for my new Fibre 65 package.
As neither of the routers support Mesh and I have a list of items already manually set up to work with my existing router I don’t see
Any point in changing to the new router and all the hassle of manually setting up all my system again. The original router is working properly with the new connection around 38mbs.
I was researching to see if the 5364 had been updated in anyway but it just seems to be the same.

Which router have you actually received, @Chali ?
I am on basic copper but have the Sagemcom Hub2, so already with a phone socket on the router if I get Full Fibre.
Just because it's the same as what you had before doesn't mean it's not absolutely suited to your current package.
So, what did you have before?
Rolling out Full Fibre is the national agenda - Talktalk have to follow that. There's no hidden agenda.
