No internet multiple times a day

One day last week my internet went down all of a sudden with no changes to anything, it says connected to device no internet access. I had to keep resetting the router then it would work for half an hour then go off again, the light on the router stays solid white even with no internet. I got through to someone on the talktalk chat and they said the router needs updating and It would be better after with better speeds, so I had to turn the router off for half an hour and it will be set up. After that I get internet for a couple of hours then it goes off again all through out the day. Calling and chat have been no help at all just telling me to try the same stuff I've already tried, resetting the router, restarting the router and checking everything is connected properly. The storm didn't affect my area according to talktalks website so what is the problem here?

It does happen rather frequently, @Coop88.

I find it can not show up as a problem for days and then suddenly one phone or the other has no Internet "but is connected".

So it doesn't always mean that everything has gone down.

Not sure if it's the same on other devices but that's what it says on my phone and the router light just stays solid white like there's no problem. The cog wheel just takes me to the connection where it gives me the option to forget network, disconnect or share. There is some settings to change VPN and stuff  but I have never touched them and don't really understand all that stuff.

I never get that message 'Connected to device. Can't provide internet.'

(However I use the PC, instead of the mobile phone.)

What happens if you tap the Cogwheel next to your TalkTalk WIFI name? Can't you change any settings?
