Returning router, incorrect label

I cancelled my broadband with talktalk, and received the bag to return old router. Packed it fine and took it to post office to return, and the lady said can scan label but the system doesn't acknowledge the bar code. Now what do I do, I don't want a charge on my account for a router I didn't use.
