Hi,
I've recently noticed my internet is a bit slower than it used to me.
When i logged into my TalkTalk hub router i noticed that the download sync speed has dropped from 22.4 Mbps to 20.0 Mbps.
When your broadband speed is relatively poor to begin with this drop in sync speed obviously has more of an impact relative to a similar drop at someone who gets 60 / 70 Mbps download speeds.
For several years the sync speed has remained stable at 22.4 Mbps so something recently has happened on my line.
Can someone look into this?

Morning,
I've re-checked the connection stats now and the sync speed is still the same. The line test is still detecting a potential voice fault. Is there any noise/crackling on the voice service?
Thanks

It will take at least 48 hours for DLM to respond to any improvement and move you to a faster profile so if you could bump the thread in a couple of days we can run another line test to see if there's been any improvement

Hi Chris,
I've connected the router to the MK4 test socket using the Microfilter that came with hub router. So will you guys be monitoring sync speed or is this something I should closely monitor?

Thanks, could you connect the router to the test socket and leave it there for a couple of days and we'll see if DLM moves you to a faster profile

Hi Chris,
Yes this is the only socket.

Hi marksc,
If you have the 5c Mk4 then it has a test socket. Is this the only telephone socket in your home?

Hi Michelle,
Getting a dial tone though I never actually use the voice line.
I have a MK4 Openteach socket so I don't belive I can test this?
I've had multiple power cuts at my property over the past 4 to 6 week period as I live in the country. Could this have caused line to sync at lower speed. This happens most summers due to birds hitting the power lines and my speed has always synced at the same speed until now.
Can the DLM be reset?

Morning,
I'm sorry to hear this. I've run a test on the line now which has detected a potential voice fault. Are you experiencing any issues with the voice service such as noise on the line or no dial tone? Does the main socket also have a test socket please?
Thanks

As @martswain suggested, have you noticed any noise on your phoneline? Do you have a test socket behind your master socket to see if there is any improvement if you connect there?
Subject to that, as @Gliwmaeden2 has said, the support team should pick this up when they are back online from Monday.

@marksc, just wait for staff to work you through further checks. If you've been switching things on and off, their readings will already be affected by too many interruptions. Leave the router on now.
Best if people don't post further before staff reach this to keep it moving forward in the queue for attention.

@marksc is your phone working normally without any odd noises ?
From the router statistics page, what is your DOWNSTREAM noise margin in dB ?
Remove any phones and other equipment including extensions and see if the speed improves.
Check for loose or damaged cables and sockets internally and if you have an overhead incoming line have a look at that too.
Do not force too many re-syncs as they may be perceived as faults by DLM and that could further reduce your speeds.

I switched off the router for approx on hour but it is still syncing at the lower 20.0 Mbps download speed.
It synced at the higher speed for several years at least so something has obviously happened on the line for it now to start syncing at a lower download speed.
I appreciate the drop in sync download speed doesn't sound like very much but again when you have a relatively slow speed to begin with you can't really afford for the sync speed to start getting slower.

That's not a huge drop, @marksc. Things might improve if you switch the router off for a full 30 minutes, to allow it to start a new session.
Then leave it on until staff have had time to check the line, after the weekend.
Usually the crucial speed to look out for is if you drop below the minimum guaranteed speed for the line, in which case it can involve getting out an engineer.
Have you run a speed test via My Connection (accessed from the Service Status Dashboard)? The result will show recent speeds for the line and the minimum guaranteed speed.
