Hello,
My work computer uses a VPN to connect to company resources -
ZScaler 4.3.0.161
This is being restricted when connecting via my TalkTalk router - I have disabled the anti-scamming setting as advised by support but this has not helped and I get <1mB sec download.
Other devices are all 15mB+ via WiFi
Upload speed is fine
The router was also replaced last week and has not helped

OK thanks, is this just something that's started recently, has it worked OK in the past?

Yes appears to be, doesn't drop out it is just really slow - in some cases it won't let me access certain systems.
Thanks

Thanks for running the speed test. Does the VPN connection appear to be stable apart from the slow throughput speed?

Ok thanks for confirming, could you run another speed test now please just so we can see how the 2 speed tests compare? Could you run this using the TalkTalk Speed Tester please.

Yes we have done this on many occasions, we tend to see it worst at peak time, interestingly the upload speed is always good.
It should show we already had the router replaced and openreach out, they came and said what you did which was the speed to the router is fine, however this was at 1pm.

Hello,
Thank you. I've run a test on the line now which is clear and the sync speed looks consistent. Your last speed test result does look low based upon the sync speed. Can I just confirm, have you recently powered down the router for a full 30 minutes and then retested the speed again as this will reset the current session and can often increase the throughput speeds?
Thanks

Hi I have tried to traceroute but my employer wont allow the VPN to be disabled so I cannot do that test without it on, what I can say is that I think the issue has always been around and that normally it makes no difference - however I've done a screenshot of the download speeds I get now which is horrific.
I think if download speed was normal then it would be about 10% of that which would be 4mB and I wouldn't notice.
I feel 100% let down because I was in a chat yesterday and they told me I should upgrade and had "too many devices" connected which is why I experienced "slowdown" he wasn't bothered that even when I had one device connected I was getting 10mB.
What's really strange is that upload speed is always fine.

Hi jimboyle1980
This could be VPN routing. Ultimately we are not responsible for the vpn routing.
You can try running a traceroute without the vpn on and then a traceroute with the vpn on.... both to the same site - for example bbc.co.uk

Hi,
I have other issues affecting speed (which I have a complaint open for) but the VPN is about 10% of the speed I get when I do a normal speed test.
This is the same wired or wireless.
Thanks

Morning,
Can I just confirm, your speeds are fine except when connecting via the VPN? Are you connecting to the VPN wired or wirelessly?
Thanks
