Hi everyone

I need help. I am trying to replace the Sagencom FAST 5464-2 router with a 3rd party router to work directly from the ONT (ASUS RT-A87U). I am configuring with Auto IP and VLAN 101 priority 0 (https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Set-up-a-non-TalkTalk-router/ta-p/2205383), but connecting is impossible.

Someone who has configured a 3rd party router, could you help me, I have tried different configurations and it is frustrating.

Thanks

Hi @Chris-TalkTalk

I reconnected the eero (before restarting the ONT), and it worked! I have internet!

Thank you so much for your help. I am really grateful!

Hi @Michelle-TalkTalk

The replacement router arrived yesterday, but the new one (eero 6) won't connect.

I have connected the router to the ONT, for 5 minutes the status light flashes white and finally stays solid red.

Now, I am using the old router to have internet connection.

Hi @bralla

No problem, I can send you a new router.

Have you added the correct landline number to your Community Profile as I'm unable to locate your details? (please don't post the number on this thread, please only add this to your Community Profile)

Thanks

Debbie

Hi Debbie-TalkTalk

I would be grateful if you could send me a replacement router as this solves my problem.

Hi bralla

Sorry for the delay.

Are you happy for me to send you a replacement TalkTalk router?.

In regards to your own router, I can only provide this help page Set up a non-TalkTalk router

No worries and fair enough. I am confident that the support team will sort this out for you.  🙂

It is normally always on, except when I don't use it for long periods of time (holidays). The last time I turned it on, the button wouldn't stay on. It survives with a DIY, but it fails too many times in a row.

I appreciate your help @ferguson

In which case wait for the support team to respond when they are back online on Monday, they may well consider a swap out for you. Are you in the habit of switching your Hub off via the power button on a regular basis? They do work best when connected 24/7.

I have problems with the power button and wanted to replace it with my old router. I am doing this to be prepared in case it fails for good.

Have you tried reaching out to Asus directly? May I ask why you have chosen to switch to a router with a poorer spec than the Hub?
