Eero 6 pro wifi extender

Hi all, I have just had installed talktalk 'Full fibre 500 VOIP' with the 'eero 6 pro'.

It's working great at the moment locally. However I am struggling to get a wifi signal in a more remote part of my bungalow.

Is there any way I can improve this dead spot? I was thinking of a wifi extender.

If this would work and improve the wifi signal, how would I go about obtaining one?

Thanks for any help, I'm new to this full fibre technology.

Regards Frank

TalkTalk will not just send out another eero Pro 6 until after I have investigated the problem. If I conclude that you need this, then you may well get one. FF500 is not like FF900 where if the fibre is provided by Openreach, then you would be able to get Whole Home WiFi.

Hi Frank,

It may be worth asking if  the support team could send you an extender to try and if that fixes the problem like Keith says you may then need to discuss buying one from TT or elsewhere.

I have been told any extender will work as I am having fibre next week. A definite option is the round echo’s that Amazon sell these apparently will work up to 10mbps. Do some googling and check. The other option is to create a mesh using the eero 6 extenders again on Amazon - good luck

The only recommended extender is another eero Pro 6. No other manufacturer's extenders will work to create a mesh network.

You realistically have two choices:-

  1. Purchase another eero Pro 6 (not the eero 6) from the loyalty dept on 0345 1725157 or 0330 1278960 and negotiate a price.
  2. I can work with you to identify & try to reduce Wi-Fi interference.

Slow speed, intermittent dropouts, breaks in the signal or no signal on some or all devices or no internet access might be caused by Wi-Fi interference from other local networks, which can also lead to a permanent reduction in speed. No ISP can be responsible for your local environment, this is mainly a byproduct of the popularity of Wi-Fi.

However, other factors should be investigated first. When this happens, what is the status displayed in the app for the internet connection? Do you have any wired connections & if so, how do they perform?

Generally speaking, the 2.4GHz band suffers a lot more from interference than the much faster 5GHz band, but the 2.4GHz one can sometimes have a better range, but this all depends on your local area.

In other words, I try to help you optimise your Wi-Fi connection. The next stage involves sending out a guide to you to help you get me some important diagnostic results so that I can analyse them for you and recommend changes to your router configuration to solve them.

I only send this out to people who request it.

Whilst the eero is supposed to manage Wi-Fi interference, if this is very bad, particularly in the 2.4GHz band, then it cannot do anything about it, no router can. The same goes for any router at that point. Other things that may then need to be investigated are its location within your property and the WiFi bands that you use.

However, I would suggest that you follow my help to find out what the root cause of the problem is, before throwing money at it.
