Short version --Could an OCE look into if my date is the 10th December please.
Long full version.
On the 19th Nov I was given a date of 10th December but I was asking for a pre install inspection with an engineer as I need to do some work first.
I have been through the txt "more" route and I just get replays asking me to "confirm"
So I phoned instead on the 25th Nov and explained I need an inspection, I had to agree and confirm the 10th before they would talk to me. I thought it was sorted but then got another txt asking me to confirm the 10th
I selected "more" and asked the inspection question again- the response was "we will look into it for you and get back to you. That was on the 28th Nov.
I then receive a txt that the 10th is cancelled because they said they have not heard from me. But there was an option to re book instead so I did and first tried the 10th and 3 other dates but each one I chose I got a reply saying "Sorry your reappointment request can not be confirmed" I then get all 4 dates messages all in one go saying "your date is confirmed" ( the ones I tried )
So I do a final date change back to the original 10th and receive a message confirming that one.
So I have no clue if the 10th is happening or any info on a pre inspection.

Thanks for the update. Which router are you using please?

I believe City fibre circuits are symmetrical, but do allow a bit of give and take on each end.
Tuesday
I forgot to mention that although the download speed at the computer (wired) is 145 but the upload speed is higher at 156 - is that normal. Only ever been used to a much slower up than down on the copper. Now up is faster then the down - not complaining as I use the upload a lot
Tuesday
Looks like the connection is working as it should judging from the wired speed. WiFi is another matter, there is no settling in period, feel free to start a new topic if you want help with that.
Tuesday
UPDATE.
It has been installed today and there was no issue with the ladder although they did have to drill a hole low down to fix an eye bolt to lash the ladder too. And I did waste my time providing 2 other cable routes not knowing which could be done. Onle thing though is the the drop down connection is very ugly - looks like a zip wire thing or a washing line reel.
Not as neat as the old twisted wire on the old one.
So far I am getting 147 at a wired computer - old speed was 58. I have done a few tests with a mobile for wifi in different rooms and it seems to me that where the signal is fairly strong the speed is good but in the same areas before that were not so good the new router is delivering slower wifi than before.
I will monitor it for now and start a new thread if needed. How long should it take before it is fully settled in.

If you discuss the installation options with the engineer and the options given aren't satisfactory to you then you can refuse to go ahead with the installation and you won't be charged

Great so long as I do not get charged for something that is being offered as free upgrade.

The engineer will be able to discuss the options and if they aren't suitable then you have the option of not going ahead with the installation

Ok thanks - for explaining, just so long as I do not get charged for a failed visit or somthing, if they want to fit it where I think they will want to then I wont be having it at all.
Unless they can actually get ladders over a 30inch wide canopy of course then all will be fine except I sill need to create the route behind the flashing. The other work over the canopy is clipping the cable to the wall and fixing the cable from the post.

I don't think it's possible to get an engineer visit beforehand. You would need to discuss this when the engineer arrives on the 10th and if they are then unable to complete the installation at that time a further visit would need to be arranged

It doesn't matter how many topics you start, or how many times and different ways you ask the same question! You cannot arrange a "pre-install" visit. You can only discuss your preferences when the engineers actually turn up. I doubt they will let you undertake any part of the process yourself if I understand your intentions correctly, they are liable for the quality and efficacy of the installation in its entirety.

Ok great thanks.
How do I get an engineer to visit before the date for a 5-10 min chat because I need to do some outside prep work first for the route and without that - the install can not go ahead fully. The route so the cable is discrete need access over a canopy that sticks out 30 inch which I am sure they will not want to be doing -- But I can. Unless they can fix on the wall from the post first leave enough cable for me to do the bit over the canopy and then come back to do the inside part. The route above the canopy also will run behind the lead flashing on the canopy - this is where the copper one is now, so its not a 2 min job for me to do on the day.
I dont want to be charged any fees if they turn up and I dont like where they want to instal it outside.

Hi Marvel,
I've checked our systems and City Fibre and both show installation date 10/12/2024
