So on 12th January I decided to upgrade my existing Fibre 65 to Fibre 150. This would also include moving to the digital phone line (from copper). 10th February was the earliest engineer appointment...so I booked time off work to stay home. Seemed like a simple process(!)
The hardware (digital voice adapter box and eero6 router) both arrived in the post several days prior. And the engineer arrived bang on time in the slot that was given. However, upon arrival he was surprised to see that I already had fibre coming in to the house. He had driven out of his way already that morning to collect a multiport (?) as he was expecting this install to be for an additional line/new line as opposed to a simple upgrade. He swapped the old black Talktalk router for the new eero6 and added the voice adapter to the phone line.
We checked the speeds on the internet and they varied from 20-70Mbps. The phone line gave a dial tone, but could not make or receive calls. The engineer said that this was because Talktalk had not yet 'turned on' the new service and that it would probably happen in a few hours. With that he left.
24 hours later, my phone line still does not work, and my internet is still at 20-50Mbps. I have been on Talktalk's chat service for 2 hours and have been passed to 6 different people...none of whom understand what is going on. One tried to cancel my service entirely, one tried to offer me £6 per day compensation until the problem was fixed but when I ask further he withdrew this offer and immediately passed me to another department. another kept repeating that the engineer needs to come again in a months time...but could not tell me why......I am still on the the chat service as I type this...and am seriously fed up. Can't even phone them to complain as my phone line doesn't work!
