Hi, I have two Security Cameras and two Security Lights at the rear of the House.
All four are stating they have a weak Signal.
Advice needed Please on what I need to boost the Signal.
I have full fibre 150, using the eero 6 router.
The router is at the front of the house where it was installed.
Apart from the rear wall of the house, there is only a studded wall between
The above equipment and the router approx 8/9 metres.

ZigBee channel 25 should be OK. Channel 26 is relatively unaffected by Wi-Fi, but many ZigBee devices do not support it.

Hi fez,
Though my Wi-Fi Signal on the 5Ghz band is better, I'm still not got a strong 2.4 Ghz Signal.
My 4 devices that connect to the 2.4 Ghz Band are still reporting a Weak Wi-Fi Cconnection.
Many thanks
Kent

Hi @Kent01246
Thanks for the recent set of screenshots, there is a change for the good & one for the bad in this location. You are getting an excellent signal strength in the 5GHz band of -38dBm (these are negative numbers), so the lower the number, the higher the signal strength. However, you are suffering Wi-Fi interference from one network on your 2.4GHz band (I'll PM you the name of that one). It is a hidden network from something (not your eero). It uses the same channel as your 2.4GHz band, but there is not enough headroom between your signal strength of -53dBm and this one at -62dBm. I would advise moving to channel 6; however, currently, that is not possible with an eero.

On the floor is the number one worst place. Can you PM me the analyser when the router was 4ft in the air.

Hi Keith,
Update, for the last two days I have moved my router as far as I can from the tv, which
Is approx 4 ft away. Day 1 was about 4ft up and Day 2 on the floor.
I am still getting a weak signal notification on the devices.
All four devices are connected to the 2.4 Ghz Band.

I totally agree with Keith that you should keep the eero away from other electric powered appliances/devices but as i didn't have much option I had to put it near the TV, it worked for me -
My TV is on an old TV shelf in the kitchen similar to the one below the TV is at the back the eero is at the front (see picture) the TV has no aerial and is connected by Wi-Fi I haven't had any issues with TV reception, signal strength or speed, could it be something else causing it have you tried moving the eero as far away from the TV as possible to rule it out?

Hi @Kent01246
That is unlikely to work unless you move your eero away from the TV.
The trouble with that is that your current eero will provide a weak signal to any other eero you add to the network (or certain Echo Dots), unless you have an Ethernet backhaul connection between the current eero and the other one, if you go for that solution.
Normally, you would let the eeros connect together over Wi-Fi as the backhaul. If you went for an Ethernet backhaul, then you might just as well have used it to extend the current eero away from the TV.
It is certainly true that a lot of customers with the eero find that their coverage is greatly improved with a second one.

Hi Keith,
Looks like I'm going to have to accept Lola's advice
" If placement in these areas is unavoidable, consider using WiFi range extenders or mesh WiFi systems to improve coverage "
Many thanks for your assistance and advice, much appreciated

Please read my last post, which deals with that exact scenario:-
"A TV can interfere with Wi-Fi signals, even when turned off"

Even when there is no power going into the TV ?.
on 07-06-2025 10:43 AM
From a quick internet search, I found this:-
A TV can interfere with Wi-Fi signals, even when turned off, particularly if it's a smart TV with a built-in Wi-Fi module. While not a primary cause of interference, a smart TV, especially if left with its Wi-Fi enabled, can still send out weak signals in search of a network, which can create some interference.

Hi Keith,
Can I say that the router is on a open shelf and not inside a cupboard.
Maybe I should have explained it better, I apologies if that wasn't ckear.
Many thanks

It has nothing to do with the TV being on or not the fact is the eero needs to be out in the open to give best signal strength and coverage.
on 07-06-2025 06:37 AM
I know that Keith,
However , Our tv is only on in the evening for approx 3 to 4 hours.
The rest of the day it is not even on standby, as it connected to a smart plug.
During the time of no power, I Still get a ' weak wifi Signal '.
As the equipment is connected to the 2.4 Ghz Band, I can only assume it is this band that has a weak Signal.

You have said that the eero is located in a cabinet below your TV. That is one of the worst places to site a router. Is it possible to move it further away, ideally waist height or above, towards the middle of the property? If the Ethernet cable isn't long enough between the ONT and the eero, this can be replaced with a longer Ethernet (Cat 6 minimum) cable.

I am doing some WiFi analysis on this via PMs (to protect the customer's privacy). His signal strength is weak.
I am trying to trace an unknown extender/repeater that is in the 5GHz band, which I have asked the customer to tell me about.
I have also asked him:-
Where is your eero sited exactly, on the floor or insid/outside of a cabinet, cupboard. Is it near any electronic equipment such as TVs, speakers etc or large metal objects or tanks of water?
What is in between the eero & the tablet in the way of walls, large metal objects & water tanks etc.
I will report back when I have some more information.
