As part of my new fibre connection, or of the random boxes I've received appread to be called "EERO". There is not explanation as to what it is or what it's for. The instructions say:
Step 1: download the app.
No. No. No. No. are you completely insane? Tell me what it is and what it does, then I'll decide IF I want to plug it in to my network or download any app.
NB, again, I am OBLIGED to put a "label" on my post. EEPRO is not one of the options. What should I do? this is soooo random. Is this damn thing even from TalkTalk?

Sorry, but do you not feel that you bear any responsibility here? Do you generally enter into arrangements to buy a service without having a clue to what it is you're signing up to? TalkTalk staff and others have been trying to untangle this for you as best they can. Your scattergun approach in starting multiple topics really didn't help.

@KeithFrench Respectfully, what the customer ordered was a complete change of provider. So I contacted Lit Fibre. Talktalk phoned me to buy me back by pimping their latest and greatest package on me.
@ferguson I could not agree more. Which is why I split all my three unrelated issues into separate threads for you, but a tampering kudos-seeking community member decided the customer was wrong. Always a bad start point.
I have also conceded that I may have been asked if I had a phone. YOU assumed I could run an app.
Now, again, what are you going to to to fix your mess? (Directed at TalkTalk staff.)

Ah, fair enough. If only the customer had taken the trouble to check exactly what they were ordering then perhaps we would all have been spared a lot of this!

Which model of Sagemcom is it? Chances are it will work with the Full Fibre service, even if only pro tem.

This customer was apparently not told originally when the full fibre was taken out, that he would need a mobile to run the eero app on. He doesn't have this. Would there be any chance of supplying this customer with a Sagemcom FAST 5464, if the eero & Grandstream are returned?

Cool. My Sagemcom has four ports. Where do I plug my desktop PC? This is going to be "oh, just buy...£££" What an abortion. This is why I tried to leave TalkTalk. And I let your marketeer talk me into staying.

The TV box will connect by wifi, the two Ethernet ports are for the DVA and the connection to the ONT

I've just noticed that the EERO box has only two RJ45 sockets. My best guess is that one of those connects to the fibre line?
The set top box and the digital voice box both appear to need a wired connection. How are you going to achieve that?

I'm sorry but you won't be able to administer the eero if you haven't got a compatible device for the eero app.

Folks, tomorrow, the nice man from Kelly Group, on behalf of Openreach are coming to put in my superfast broadband. Presumably this involves the removal of my ADSL+2. We still haven't resolved how I am going to administer the EERO hardware without a web interface, and with a phone on which apps may not be installed.

Regarding terrestrial TV, it appeared that you asked this in your early post (message 29), apologies if I've misunderstood
A router is a router, a router that also acts as a modem is really a modem router (I know it is often confusingly just called a router). As I understand it the ONT performs the function of a modem. Any device that connects to the ONT doesn't need a modem function, you can just connect a device such as a laptop directly to the ONT with an Ethernet cable and it should work fine

You can use the box to watch. This is connected to the TV his an HDMI cable and you select the source using the TV remote to select the correct HDMI input.
If you require the ability to use the tuner on the TV instead of using the box you buy a splitter and leads from your local supermarket or market electrical stall. However the box does everything so there is little need to use the TV itself.

@Chris-TalkTalk I'm not sure I suggested you would disable my terrestrial TV service. In fact, I'm completely certain that is not within your power.
My question was, is, and always has been: how do I watch my TV if I have unplugged the aerial cable from it?

I understand. The two are often mixed up. A gateway connects two services which might be alike. A gateway could be but is not necessarily a modem. A modem is usually, arguably a gateway or sorts. A modulator/demodulator changes analog signals (by modulating them) into digital ones and digital ones into analog (by demodulation). However, let's get back to them real subject.

I have been an IP engineer & 3rd line technical support engineer for well over 30 years & have worked on modems since the year dot. It is not a modem, any device that allows the connection of one service to an IP network is a gateway. In this case a PSTN VoIP gateway.

@KeithFrench I like your style. I do understand that the question is between me and TalkTalk, but one of the community members decided to intervene in such a way that I was unsure if the question got through.
I'm old School: If it modulates and demodulates my voice for squirting down a digital cable, it's a modem.
I'm not entirely content with "TalkTalk are disabling your terrestrial TV, such that you'll need to buy... [an adapter which will further reduce your signal strength]" but as you say: that's really something I need to discuss with a TT rep.

No, it won't as the initial setup of an eero uses mobile data to download a configuration file to it.
