Is your new number showing when you log into My Account and check your package  / billing details, @AgedRower?

 

Or is this only when you check the landline number, by dialling 17070 from the landline?

 

If it's not changed in My Account but reads back differently when you dial 17070, then you have a crossed line which is different from a deliberate number reallocation. 

 

These are different technical issues. 

 

Complete your community forum profile details with your Talktalk account number in Personal Information  (go via your avatar, settings.....) and in Private Notes near the end of that section, add clearly what your normal phone number was and then indicate what is read back to you. Scroll down further to SAVE CHANGES.
