Can someone please explain why during a power cut I could not contact the energy company on my land line. I had what sounded like a dialling tone but it would not connect at all.

Morning,
Thanks for the PM. I'm glad to hear that this is now working.

Morning,
I'm sorry to hear this. I've run a test on the line which is clear. Do you still have no dial tone? Does your main socket have a test socket please?
Thanks
Michelle

Is your phone just plugged in or is it cordless and plugs into a base unit to recharge?
If the latter it's because the base unit is off during a power cut and the cordless handset cannot connect to the phone line without power to the base unit.
