No dialling tone, so cannot make calls. I have telephoned my landline (using my mobile) and get long ringing tone, followed by an announcement that there is no message-leaving service. So I cannot receive calls either.

I've raised this as a non-appointed task so Openreach will investigate over the next 72 hours, they may contact you if they need to access your home

@Nunoo, tomorrow being the 27th will be too soon probably for a morning appointment, as staff will only be back on here to book it around breakfast time.
Better give one or two further options.

Hi, Chris - we have two wall sockets - one upstairs, and one down. We get no dialling tone from either. This, I think, rules out a fault with a socket.
Cheers
John

Hi, Chris,
We are getting internet access but no telephone from the same wall socket, so I am wondering to what extent (if any) the problem is our end. However, if a visit by an engineer is deemed desirable, I am quite happy for this to be arranged. We can arrange to be at home weekdays and Saturday this week and next, but not Friday 6th Dec.
Many thanks,
John

Hi, Chris,
We have three telephones in the house. All died at the same time. However, I have brought the upstairs phone down and plugged into the main wall socket and can confirm that there is no dial tone using this phone.
Best wishes
John

OK thanks, do you have another telephone that you can test with or can you test you telephone on someone else's line to confirm that it's working OK?

Thanks for getting back to me. I have connected the telephone direct to the wall socket, but this does not cure the problem.
