Using Selective call rejection (Last Caller Barring)

I am referring to the article at,

https://help-centre.talktalk.co.uk/Telephone/Telephone_Add_ons_and_settings/Using_Selective_call_rej...

I have already turned Last Caller Barring on, within MyAccount.

I want to block a specific incoming telephone number.

There are 2 methods of doing this in the above page.

Neither of them works.

It reports that 'the service requested is not available'.

Is this so?

TalkTalk have already withdrawn Callsafe.

Has this also been withdrawn?

@Billx, it's working fine for me, both for adding the latest caller's number and for one I spotted from a week ago.

Mine is the more up to date version of it, so involves using a # when adding the number, not the pin number of the old Last Caller Barring.

Thanks, @Gliwmaeden2

I have retested both versions referred to in that original help article.

For me, it still responds with 'the service requested is not available'.

I'll post back when I next need to block someone....!

But I do have the more recent version of it, and have done for quite a while. Two years at least, if not more.

Definitely no problem at the moment after dialling 14258. Normal message played

Thanks, @Gliwmaeden2

As I said I have read the whole of the above article.

Within it, there is an older and a newer method.

I attempted both, but can get neither to work.

Both respond with 'the service requested is not available'.

Yes, I can see the graphic, which you displayed above.

After clicking on 'Using Last caller Baring',

I can see this:

To block a specific number:

  1. Dial 1 4 2 5 8
  2. When prompted to manage your list of barred numbers, enter your PIN (default is 1 2 3 4 )
  3. Press 2 to review your barred numbers list
  4. Now follow the instructions on the phone
  5. The number(s) you’ve entered will now be blocked from calling you

After dialling 14258, it responds with 'the service requested is not available'.

It doesn't ask for the PIN.

So, you must be using a different method.

Selective Caller Rejection works with different methods for barring calls, @Billx.

Perhaps you are still on the older method?

It's all working normally for me [ancient copper line....slow Fast Broadband].
