I currently have a landline which is there simply for incoming calls only. If want to call anyone I’ll use my mobile phone ( either call (Smarty - unlimited calls) or WhatsApp ).

Can anyone tell me if I go for VOIP are calls free or does the charge fall in line with the present landline plan.  The current UK calls boost costs more per month than my entire SMARTY mobile plan.  Any info much appreciated.

I've just come across this thread and I have a similar question.  My TT contract is about to expire next month and I asked for quotes to renew.  I was given a monthly price for a broadband data only package.  I explained I wanted to retain my landline for which I too, only use for incoming calls.  I thought the cost of moving to a VoIP telephone price was contained within the price I was given for a broadband data only package.  However I was told no, a charge of £1.95 would apply if I switched to VoIP, even if it was just for incoming calls only.  Has anybody else been told this?

'Whatsapp' and 'Line' (VOIP) are free to use on your PC if you already have them on your phone.  You can get rid of the landline, you don't need that for broadband any more.  You'll have to update callers to your landline telephone number to your mobile number.  Landlines are being switched off soon.

TalkTalk VoiP services are chargeable in the same way as landline ones.
