Voice Mail Icon and Dial Tone not cancelling

Hi,
I deleted my last voicemail (by pressing the appropriate number when prompted). However, the voicemail message received icon remains on the phone and the ring tone indicates that a voice mail message is present. When I dial 1571 the response is that I have no new messages, please hang up.
Any ideas how this can be cleared?
Thanks

Eventually found out how to remove the icon after using Google search.
It's a Panasonic phone and the solution is to press the # key until the phone beeps.
The dial tone still indicates voicemail but I can live with that.
Thanks to those who suggested solutions before this.

Hi, I tried that and it still has the voicemail icon and ringtone.
Thanks though.

Good morning,
Thanks for trying this. Could you try leaving yourself another voicemail and then try deleting this message to see if that works?
Thanks
Michelle

Hi, tried that and it made no difference.
Isn't the dial tone ring produced by talktalk?

OK thanks. If it's a cordless phone have you tried disconnecting it from electric socket. If not could you try this, just leave it disconnected for 5 minutes

Yes it is TalkTalk voicemail.
My phone does not have voicemail.
I've tried disconnecting phone and the icon still remains so does the indicative ring tone.

Hi chris45,
Are you sure that it's a voicemail on our voice mail service and not the telephones inbuilt voicemail service (if it has one)?
