I have just dialled 1571 (which I haven't done for a while) only to hear "sorry, you're not subscribed, please contact your service provider". I always used to have the 1571 facility so who arbitrarily authorised its removal? And why? And may I have it back please?

Morning,

We now only offer voicemail plus which can be added in your My Account.

Thanks

Standard Voicemail has not been available for many years.

From the 29th of March our TalkTalk Community will move to peer-to-peer support and the TalkTalk team will no longer be here to support with queries. Don’t worry we still have plenty of ways to reach out if you need to speak to TalkTalk directly. For more details check out the link here: How to contact TalkTalk Broadband - Help & Support.

My landline phone is a Panasonic KX-TGD324E and has a button on the base unit that I can press to get answerphone messages, along with my own greeting that I put on years ago. Looking at my details in My Account, I see that I don't have Voicemail Plus so I presume I must have Standard Voicemail. But dialling 1571 still says I'm not subscribed, despite it being there since the BT days, at least until I decided to try it recently. I have never ever asked anybody to remove it. So I am quite confused!!!

Hi,

Thanks for confirming. Dialling 1571 is how you access the voicemails. I've included a Help Guide below,

Yes I have Voicemail and it works. (However there is always a period of electronic hum at the end of any message received, if that's significant.) But is Voicemail a SUBSTITUTE for 1571 or an EXTRA? As I remember from some years ago, they would kick in at different times after the end of the ringing tone. One was good for when I was not here, the other was good for when I was on the phone to somebody else and a caller needed to leave a message.
