Phone often not registered on network and when it is, no ability to call or text

Hi,

I've had an issue for the past few months whereby my mobile, when I'm at home, doesn't receive or make calls and text messages. Sometimes when I try to call it displays "not registered on network" on the screen, or fails to send text messages.

I've gone on https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Network-coverage/ta-p/2204418 and my postcode has full dark red "Good indoors & outdoors" for both status and network coverage on 2G and 4G, and for miles around. My phone is fine if I'm out and about away from my home. Even if I stand in my driveway, I can't send or receive calls and texts, even if I have 2 bars out of 4.

Sometimes it does connect and I can be in my kitchen and make a call, but the quality of the line is never good and it often cuts out even if I go outside. Sometimes the Voicemail icon will appear in the Notification bar and it's because someone left me a voicemail 30 minutes before even though my phone was not in use.

Can you help? Thanks.

I was in the middle of London for a week a couple of weeks ago and had such broken phone calls that I could typically hear 1 word in 10. My mobile data wouldn't connect, and when it did I was getting speeds of a few kb/s. I figured this couldn't have been the network, it must be the SIM card.

I ended up switching mobile provider since Talktalk don't do mobile any more and now enjoy normal phone conversations whilst out, and additionally get WiFi Calling included when at home.

In a surprise twist, my in-laws got in touch with me yesterday asking if I could help them get a new phone, because often they can't send or receive calls and texts. They are also on talktalk mobile and live 2 streets away, and it turns out they've been having this issue for the past couple of months same as me.

it sounds like the phone signal at home is having problems, so need to see if it happens with a different phone at home.

Out of curiosity I'm just wondering why that would make a difference? If I walk to the next street over I get perfect signal and my phone registers on the network and I can send and receive calls and texts.

Thanks.
