With the demise of Talktalk later this year I thought I'd get ahead of the game and change my Talktalk e-mail address on My Account etc. to my gmail one. I'm not sure what is happening to e-mail addresses when Talktalk dies.
Apparently temporary difficulties are being experienced and I was advised to try again later.
I now have my gmail address on My Account but resetting passwords e-mails are going to my Talktalk e-mail.
A hybrid situation.
Any body got any ideas ?

Thank you so much for the support @Gliwmaeden2
Hi there @Grumpyolduser i totally agree with the advice provided by @Gliwmaeden2 please keep your certificate of posting or receipt, just incase we charge you for not returning the equipment, we will then be able to waiver the charge. Our warehouse has not yet updated to receiving the equipment. Your final bill should be on your next billing date, i will send you a Private message with more details.

@Grumpyolduser, I find I never receive confirmation from Talktalk when they receive equipment back so I not only keep a photograph as well as the paper copy of my certificate of posting but screenshot the tracking information that shows it's been delivered!
Keep your DD in place until after an absolutely final bill for £0.00.
It's also the best way to claim back any credit if it's due via My Account, as refunds are not paid directly to your bank account.

Hi Mandisa,
I've returned all my Talktalk kit in the bag provided. It has been received according to GPO but no confirmation from your salvage guys.
When can I expect the final reckoning on how much I owe TT ? It won't be much as I paid a Direct Debit a day before I left you. Will you collect this by Direct Debit ?
I won't cancel the authority until you confirm it is safe to do so.
Thanks.
G.

Hi @Grumpyolduser I’m glad to hear that the issue with the whining noise on your Panasonic answer machine has been resolved since switching to Virgin Media.
Regarding your question, since your account is now closed, it’s hard to determine if it was a software issue with Panasonic or something on our end.
I have gained access to your account, and it was disconnected on the 29.08.2025, you will be getting a returns bag within the next 3-5 working to return our equipment to avoid any charges. Would there be anything else I can assist you with?

Hi @Grumpyolduser I will look into this for you.

Things have changed OFCOM says on their website:
Since 2015, people have been able to switch between phone and broadband providers on Openreach’s network – such as BT and Sky – by following a process where their new provider manages the switch. But customers switching to or from a different network, such as Virgin Media, have had to contact their existing provider as well to co-ordinate the switch.
With a range of competing fibre-optic networks being built, Ofcom wants to make it easier and quicker for people to move between them and take advantage of unprecedented levels of choice. Under the new One Touch Switch process, landline and broadband customers only need to contact their new provider to make the change. (my bold)
Since moving to Virgin this morning the annoying whining noise on my Panasonic answer machine has gone. Have Panasonic changed their software or was it Talktalk all along ?
Sometime Talktalk will let me know what to do with their kit.
I was with Talktalk when it assimilated Pipex.

Nice to see the CEO has a firm grip on technical terms:
Susie Buckridge, TalkTalk CEO, said:
“At TalkTalk, we are undertaking a significant transformation as part of our ambition to become the most recommended Wi-Fi provider in the UK. An innovative and flexible technology platform that enables us to provide excellent customer service like Kraken is central to our ambition.
I know I speak for all of us at TalkTalk when I say we are excited to be the first major connectivity provider to join the Kraken network, not least because of the significant benefits it will bring to our customers and colleagues.”
Not many organisations provide WiFi so the task shouldn't be difficult - broadband a bit more so.

Thanks for all the help you've given me.
The takeover by UW will, inevitably, mean they will want to integrate Talktalk systems which will involve software opportunities. Apart from the data debacle under Dido Harding's reign Talktalk seem to operate an implement first test after (such as the US style telephone ring, the whining noise at the end of recordings on Panasonic equipment etc.) strategy.
I shall be sure to keep Talktalk informed of the proposed leaving date.
Martin Lewis won't, according to on line reviews, recommend UW.
Enough said.

@Grumpyolduser, in the not so distant future, the copper lines will cease unless there's no available full fibre in your area.
That will affect all the companies that use the Openreach network - you will need to bear that in mind. With Talktalk, you'd order a digital voice service (VOIP) with a switch to full Fibre broadband, using your same phone number and the phone plugged into the back of the router instead of the Openreach master socket.
If you leave, Talktalk agents will advise you about your early termination fee.
Read the cancellation instructions here carefully, as you do have to be in touch with Talktalk, particularly if you moved to Virgin or Vodafone.

Thanks for your help but haven't been able to move forward with Safari having opportunities with contacting Talktalk.
No matter, I'll be leaving Talktalk/Utility Warehouse as soon as practicable. I need a landline.
UW website only offers me full fibre packages with no landline.
When my Talktalk contract expires I cannot accept any offer that doesn't include a landline.
Leaving whilst still in contract means I can sort out a replacement package at my leisure.
Just really a case of sorting out the leaving fee - or will EE do that for me ?
I'm also wary of social media chatter (not always reliable) of UW putting pressure on to gobble up all your utility bills bar water.

Sorry, @Grumpyolduser, it wasn't 100% clear to me which password(s) you were talking about! I hope Philiile-TT has sorted it for you now. 😊

@Grumpyolduser I have just had a look at your MyAccount portal, and I can see the Gmail is added however not registered. I have now registered it and sent a verification email. Kindly get back to me once done and confirm if you are now able to utilize the portal using Gmail.

It depends what you set up for password recovery for emails, @Grumpyolduser as that's a separate issue from the email for signing into My Account / Billing.
