Cold caller at my front door

Just an a BT open reach rep at my door at 7pm asking if talktalk have contacted me to talk about the phone line because they are coming to renew all the cable in the next 2 weeks. then he asked me to google Speed Test, then stand next to the router and test the speed and tell him the results then he walked off. is this a scam of some sort?

Did you ask for any identification?

 

If he's from Openreach TalkTalk may have no knowledge.


So staff can check your postcode and for a quicker reply can you please ensure you have your personal information up to date in your profile including your TalkTalk landline phone number so your account can be traced. If you are unsure of your phone number, you can find this in My Account or dial 17070 from your landline phone and this will confirm the number for you.
You can also add your account number in the private notes field, which only you and the support staff can view.
