I received an email headed "Notify My TalkTalk- Important update from TalkTalk". Before I put in my details, how do I know this is genuine?

Do ALL of it, @Billx.

Reporting it to Phishing means a wider note is made of the offending sender address.

Sending it to Spam should help build up recognition of rogue senders to your specific address.

@Gliwmaeden2

But TalkTalk will take some action regarding the spam email, if it is moved to 'Spam' folder?

Do both.

Also report it here:

Hi, @Gliwmaeden2

Is moving a particular email to the 'Spam' folder equivalent to reporting the email as Spam, or should it also be reported to phishing@talktalk ?

Thanks,

Bill

Don't click on anything, @JudeC1.

Report to as phishing, send it to Spam and delete it.
