Is assistance still being given to people using a DN 372T box, please? I have an issue with a box not recording.

Thanks.

If you look for a new recordable box there are basically only 2 options available.

Based on Youview the BT / EE Pro box is available used from CeX) although many grade A and B boxes are new. These can record 4 programmes at a time.

The Manhattan recording boxes are based on Freeview Play and available from numerous retail sites.

I performed the maintenance procedure and had to Factory Reset (losing recordings), but recording is now possible again. I think I will go down the road of other external drives. Thanks for your help.

Hi,

There is no time limit, but these boxes are reaching the end of life and once the hard drive fails, that's it I'm afraid. Another symptom is that previously recorded programmes will not play.

The box not recording is a symptom of this and another symptom is that previously recorded programmes will not play., if you try the maintenance reset, keep recordings, this will attempt to repair the hard drive. Some customers have had success running this mode 2 or 3 times, without resorting to the full factory reset.

The factory reset option, lose recordings does just that, but it reformats the drive and if its possible repairs the drive.

Thanks. I have tried a soft reset and powered down at the back of the box, but there is no change. I will try a factory reset. Do old recordings have a time limit for using them? There are a considerable number of old recordings on the hard drive.

Hi,

Have you tried a soft reset? To do this hold the power button on the front for around 10 seconds and the box should restart.

If this doesn’t work then have you tried a YouView Maintenance Reset (https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/How-to-find-maintenance-mode/ta-p/1429347)?

Try the Factory Reset keep recording option.

You will then need to reset your personal settings (such as parental controls / Set antenna Out to On in Settings: Picture and Sound / Surround Sound etc.) and also reset your scheduled recordings (might be worth taking a note of future recordings before doing this so you don’t miss any).

If all else fails then try a full factory reset from the settings menu you've just used above. You will lose your recordings though.

TalkTalk now only supply non-recordable boxes, So it's best to try all alternatives if recording is important to you.

You will need to phone and probably recontract to obtain a new non recordable box.

There are alternatives recorders out there though. I've given advice on the ITVX pinned post on this forum.

Hope it works and please let us know how you get on.
