In August this year I, foolishly, agreed a year contract with Talktalk. They sent me a new TVhub box, which I did not request, and charged me £9.95 for delivery of same. I discovered this new box does not allow for recording. I spent a lot of time on Chat Box and eventually learned Talktalk do not supply a box that does record. Also, they inform me they will charge £221 if I cancel my contract . As recording is my "way of life", I have re-connected my old box and am furious with Talktalk for their very poor service.

Sadly, I think you may have renewed with a TV package and box included, something that perhaps you might have checked at the time. TalkTalk no longer provide recording boxes of any kind. But if you have a previous model which still works for you then feel free to carry on using it. None of this allows you to leave your contract early without penalty I'm afraid.
