I'm being hounded by Talk Talk and a company called Moorcroft about an account I don't know anything about. If its a mobile - I've never been with Talk Talk but the same Mobile provider since 2009 - and It's not Talk Talk. It seems to relate to phone and Broadband, but mine was with Shell, as in the oil, not Talk Talk. What's more I haven't lived in the UK for over a year, and wrote to Shell to cancel the contract.
Is this a scam?

Hi Bobblelob
The account was cancelled in December due to non payment, there was an outstanding balance carried over when the account was migrated to TalkTalk in August
The account has now been passed to a collection agency.

Didn't see the replies you already have but exactly what they said - Shell are no longer in the business or broadband/landlines and are sticking with what they do best. It was all over the news and people where notified well in advance and several emails where sent to all existing customers due to be ported. Just because you left the country and cancelled your contract, unfortunately you will still be liable for the balance of the remainder of your contract as stated in the small print.

I should have added: if you are a former Shell energy customer then your best bet will be to contact customer services directly and ask for the Shell migration team. Contact details and opening hours can be found here:

Shell broadband were taken over by TalkTalk some time ago. Did you get confirmation that your contract had been cancelled? Moorcroft are a debt collection agency. This has been flagged up to the support team for you, but I fear there will be little they can do to help.
