Cancelling Contract

Hello,
I'm leaving TalkTalk due to moving house and new property has it all included.
Support have kindly made the suggestion of transferring the loyalties to my parents that are with TalkTalk too (cheaper package etc)
The same problem always arises, as i am not the account holder, and am limited on security questions they will ask.
Everything involves using Myaccount system, which i constantly have to explain that my parents would never of set this up due to being elderly and not online.
I save over £150 if i transfer as still in a long contract, so offered to try and provide parents details like account number.
I believe i am at the stage where i know the email which was initially used to setup  and it seems to recognize it. I requested to be sent a email/code to register. the code never arrived and now locked out for a bit.
I am tempted to just pay the £177 as i cant deal the hassle.
I appreciate the security aspect.
If anyone on here can assist in me getting registered/re-registered with my parents account that would help.
Support are due to call me back, and i will mention to just call my parents, but I'm not sure it will help. (they wont understand any of it)
Thanks.

Hi,

Just completed everything, and no termination Fee's

I didn't mention to them about the discussion about the loyalties transfer bit on here, as was so exhausted with it all, so just happy its sorted.

Thanks for help.

Have you also had confirmation that you will not be liable for early termination fees on your own account?

OK, if you got it sorted that way that seems like an excellent result.

Hi,

Should be sorted, the way i avoid paying the early exit fee's is to transfer the loyalties/benefits to someone else. So only choice is parents. we finally got through security

and to do this they had to change the package.

But it is cheaper now.

sounds bizarre, but that's what they did.

OK. The bit about 'transferring the benefits" from one account to another makes no sense to me whatsoever. So I suggest you hold off from getting in touch directly and wait for a reply from the support team here. Hopefully tomorrow, just keep an eye on this thread.

Thanks,

I think i may remember the Password now, after your conversation.

So basically if my mum calls, they should know who she is by voice recognition.

Then somehow get re-registered with my account so i can then call billing to transfer my benefits.

I now know part of the email address of the initial setup. (not what i previously  thought it was) but may not be able to access due to not knowing that password. it's a Microsoft account and will have to go through security all over again to recover it. 😞

I wonder if telling them the possible password, they can then access the account, and they can sort this out

Thanks

Yes, if you call up they can use voice recognition software as a quick way of getting through security. But only if it has already been set up. The password that you may otherwise be asked for, known as the telephone password, would have been set up previously and can be reset in My Account. If you don't know the password for My Account you can ask for it to be reset when logging in.

I think it's just a case of knowing the Password.

My Mum has this weird theory and she keeps mentioning "My Voice is my Password"

Chap who i was dealing with didn't seem to know anything about it.

Does sound like it's a possibility?

Apologies, I have just re-read your post. There is no way I am aware of in which the suggestion can apply. I will leave it for the support team here to advise further.

Are you currently the TalkTalk account holder at your parent's address? If so, then you should be able to switch the existing account from your name to one of theirs. I have moved this to the Billing section section as it is related to the account rather than a Broadband issue as such.
