Cancelling mother in law's service

Hi
My MIL is shortly going into a care home and will not be returning. She is 90, deaf, terminally ill and not capable of dealing with this herself. She is on a monthly rolling contract.
My question is, can I or my wife arrange for the TalkTalk service to be cancelled?
Thanks
Adey

Good to hear that this all went smoothly and there wasn't unnecessary stress! A difficult enough time for you all.

Quick update on this thread.
Phoned and MIL was able to get her daughter to speak to the agent.
As she is terminally ill and going to a care home the notice period is only 5 days.
All sorted in about 15 minutes and confirmation email received within the hour. Postal confirmation two days later.
Thanks again Gliwmaeden2 for the help.

Thanks very much for the info, I couldn't find that.
Think we'll try the phone call first and revert to the POA if necessary.
I'll update on here when it's all sorted - it may be of use to other members'

It seems that they wouldn't want the original, @AdrianGrid.
Check out the information here, but TT does take 28 days to process it. Probably too slow for you.

Hi @Gliwmaeden2
Thanks for the reply and your advice.
My wife has POA but this is quite old and cannot be checked online, so to register it with TalkTalk would mean sending the original snail mail, which we are reluctant to do. Unless of course TalkTalk will accept a photocopy.
It will be difficult but I think we'll try to get MIL involved in the phone call.

Phone as soon as possible, @AdrianGrid.
You need to give 30 days' notice.
Best if you can have her there beside you as security checks will be made.
Do you have Power of Attorney / Authority to Act?
Cancellations cannot be processed through the forum. Don't use Chat, as they simply arrange a call back.
Phone 03451 720088, open 9am till 7pm weekdays, till 6pm on Saturday.
