Broadband outage on a regular basis

The last few weeks our Broadband has periods of outage that improves when turning the modem off and on. Last night, no Netflix etc could be had and it is getting very annoying. The Modem is rather warm and could that be the problem?

Router arrived and connected.
Seems a lot sharper and faster.
Also has a brighter light on the front!

Hi dedmans1
Ok no problem, we can try the router first. I will order this for you now 🙂
Please allow 24-48hrs for this to arrive. Let us know how the connection compares with this router.
Thanks
Debbie

I cannot shift the router today as my daugter is working here as it is such a hot day. A new router might be a good idea as the one we have has been here a long time and seems to get quite warm

Hi @dedmans1
Would it be possible to connect the router to the test socket for a short while whilst I run another line test?
Would you like me to send a replacement router for testing too?

The router is connected to an extension socket that was rewired completely less than a year ago when our land line failed. All is generally good but as I say there are numerous outages that sometimes improve when turned off and on. It ia a Sagem unit.

Hi @dedmans1
I'm really sorry to hear this.
The line test has detected a potential fault. Is the router currently connected at the test socket?

What make/model of router do you have? When this happens, what is the exact state of the light(s) on the front of it? Does the problem only affect wirelessly connected devices or wired (Ethernet) ones?
