Good morning,

I'm getting variable download performance with my TalkTalk broadband.

Earlier today it was very sluggish and now it's fine. This has been happening on/off over the last week or so.

Any suggestions as to why?

Thanks

Gary

Hi

That's good news, glad the new router has helped.

Just received my new router, and have installed it.

Initial test is very good, speed is up to 46Mbps download.

Thanks!!!!

No, the speed tests go from 21mbps <=> 41 mbps , and seem to vary from minute to minute.

I've been sent a new router so we shall see if that helps.

Thanks for asking.

Any improvement with speeds since the problem with the phone line got sorted this afternoon, @GaryNR32?

Thanks Karl, as you say, it is a bit old.... I think it's steam powered! 🙂

Will give it a go as soon as I get it.

BTW, my VPN connection just dropped, are TalkTalk doing any BB testing etc?

Thanks again

Hi

Your current router is a little dated, so I want to swap this out to see if this helps.

A new one is on the way.

Hi Karl,

There are no other devices connected to the wifi, just my Mac.

Just run another speed test at 12:10 and it's 21Mbps download, 8Mbps upload.

I have to use my Three mobile tethering sometimes....

Thanks

Gary

Hello TalkTalk,

Can I have some response on this please? Just done another speed test and it's down to 22Mbps from a guaranteed 41Mbps...

My router is < five yards from my laptop and the BB download speed was 44Mbps the other night!

I look forward to your response.

This could be related to the problem with the phone line that you reported here, @GaryNR32:

Important to have these issues looked into together.
