Morning,
I don't get a dial tone with my landline and yet my broadband is working fine.
I believe the phone is working OK but doesn't ring when I dial it either.
Any suggestions?
Also, do I have to have a landline if I never use it?
Thanks
Gary

Well, well , well....
I have a dial tone and I can ring my landline again!!!
So there was a problem on the TALKTALK side and not my side, as I thought.
Thanks for getting it resolved but no thanks for the hoops your chat support staff made me go through....

Yes, I've already run many speed tests and connection tests, with varying results.
Have spent a few hours chatting to support staff too but to no avail....
Just thought I'd try a different angle of attack.

I see that you do in fact have a problem with your Broadband that you posted about today:
https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Broadband/Broadband-speed-stability/td-p/2986192
This will be related to the phone line not working.

I don't have a second handset, so I'd have to go and buy one just for that purpose.
Thanks for your response, let's see what TalkTalk say.

It's a good idea to check with a second handset regardless, but otherwise it sounds like there's a fault on the line, @GaryNR32.
Have you checked it in My Connection (via Service Status Dashboard)? Go via the forum menu: help with your service.
You can't have traditional ADSL or FTTC without the landline even if you never make calls - the infrastructure uses it.
With Full Fibre, new infrastructure is installed and you don't then have a landline.
