Full Fibre 150 upgrade questions

Our contract is ending soon and currently on Fibre 65.  I called to set up new contract two days ago and was told we could have free upgrade to Fibre 150 BUT was told we need an app and would have to have a new router and download the app to make it work.

This put me off somewhat and I stuck with Fibre 65.  We have two TVs 2 mobiles and a desktop pc  and I occasionally work from home.

I am now second guessing that maybe I should have taken the extra upgrade at no additional cost. But I have questions after doing a bit of research

We have a landline - I have read that its data only and you lose the landline - if this is the case then its a no.

The app, we have older phones with not much space on them so how much room does this app take up. and why do we have do download it it make the router work?

I also read that actually you send an engineer out to install everything is this this case?  I wasnt told this, I was made to believe we would have to do it all ourselves.  We are not technically minded.

Advice please as I have a 14 day cooling off period to change my mind

@cruiseblogger, the router that works with an app is the Eero.

It goes with full fibre to the premises.

That involves an engineer setting up different infrastructure  - it won't be using your old copper line, so not something you can do yourself.

They have been offering a digital voice adapter for the landline substitute (to keep your phone number) but I think that is no longer.

It may be possible for you to have a Sagemcom Hub2  with Fibre150.

That simply involves plugging the main phone into the back.of the router, and no app.

Get back in touch with them straight away to check the details.

If it's 150 then it's an Amazon Eero router that is sent. It is controlled by the Eero app that you download from your phone's app store. To see the size search for it in your phone's store as its size may differ between Apple and Playstore. There are minimum requirements for running this too, so check you phone version against requirements

It is data only, at least mine was, and we now use our mobiles only for calls.

An open reach engineer is required to make the connection and they check you are up and running before they leave.
