Internet connection repeatedly drops to iphone /ipad via wifi - firmware update?

Hi,
From web searches I can see this is a common problem. My phone and iPad remain connected to wifi but frequently (several times per day) lose connection to the internet. I know this only because web pages time out. If I disconnect and reconnect wifi the connection is restored to the web. Other devices not affected to my knowledge.
I think it might be worth trying a firmware update, which I believe Talk talk can initiate remotely? I have a fairly old router, had it for 5+ years.
thanks!

Hi eg_parad1gm,
Line test is picking up a potential issue so I've raised this to Openreach for investigation. They will investigate over the next few days and may contact you directly if they need to access your home

Er… so I think there is no dial tone. I can’t remember how you get dial tone on my Gigaset wireless phone. But it’s saying “please check phone connection” and doesn’t do anything when asking it to dial.

Hello,
Ok thank you. It's just to confirm if there is a dial tone and if you are able to make and receive calls. If there is a voice fault then we'll need to raise this first as this can affect the broadband connection. Please post back here to confirm as soon as the voice service has been tested please.
Thanks
Michelle

Thanks for reply. My (landline) phone’s been disconnected for quite some time. I’ve plugged it in, think it needs to charge before I can confirm.

Good morning,
I'm sorry to hear this. I've run a test on the line now which has detected a potential voice fault. Just to confirm, do you have a dial tone, as this can affect the broadband connection?
Thanks
Michelle
