Internet constantly dropping

I'm in the S8 area of Sheffield and for over a week now we have been losing the internet. Then it will reconnect.

When I run the network test it detects a problem with the broadband and produces a fault report.

Then it gets fixed and is fine for a while but then goes again and the cycle repeats.

Hi,

 

Great thanks for confirming. Would it be possible to connect the microfilter, router and phone directly at the test socket so we can check the connection stats again please?

Hi Michelle, yes it does drop the connection to wired devices too. There is a test socket on the main socket too (If you remove the front plate).

Ok thank you for confirming. Does the connection also drop on any devices connected wired? Does your main socket have a test socket please?

Hi Michelle, yes the connection has been dropping more than this. It may only be for a short period but there are way more than 2 re-connections. The longest period of disconnection has been over 24 hours. This was last weekend not the one just gone.

 

The family report that it keeps dropping. The Router seems fine (it's new anyway). The couple of times I've reported the fault, the diagnostic check says there is a problem with the broadband between our home and the exchange.

 

We never use the landline but it has a dialling tone.

Hi Billyblade,

 

I'm sorry to hear that your connection is unstable and I'll take a look now. I've run a test on the line which is clear and I can see 2 re-connections over the last 5 days. Would you say that the connection has been dropping more often than this? Is your voice service ok with no noise on the line? Does your main socket also have a test socket please?
