Question re phone hardware and VoIP

Cityfibre are installing full fibre to us tomorrow. We are currently using antiquated corded phones, two of which are fed from a cable connected to the back of an Openreach Master Socket 5C and a third via a cable running up the wall cavity from the rear of the same Master Socket.

My thoughts are that when the incoming cable to the Master Socket is disconnected at the street cabinet, the Master Socket will become a passive junction box. My plan is to connect the VoIP socket on my new router to the phone socket on the front of the Master Socket and hopefully still be able to use the corded phones as described above.

Could anyone tell me whether this is likely to work, please?

Many thanks.

No. The master socket will be dead. You will need a phone which is capable of connecting via the VoIP socket.

From the 29th of March our TalkTalk Community will move to peer-to-peer support and the TalkTalk team will no longer be here to support with queries. Don’t worry we still have plenty of ways to reach out if you need to speak to TalkTalk directly. For more details check out the link here: How to contact TalkTalk Broadband - Help & Support.
