Message 35 of 35

Over the past two to three weeks I have had problems with connection dropping out intermittently, off for between 15mins and couple of hours. I initially tried re-setting router but problem persisted. I did a line test and Fault Tracker advised there was a fault (ref no REP-12631650) and TalkTalk are working on it.

I have now received a text  and email that a fault has been found and that I need to make an appointment for an Openreach engineer to visit because:

"we've discovered a fault in your area and need to send an engineer to your home to fix it"

The message gave a link to book the visit (talktalk.co.uk/bookengineer). I've not tried this link as I am suspicious of the message as the number seems to be related to some kind of scam.

Can anybody advise please?

Thanks

Carl

Do you have access to a telephone that you can test with, just to check for a dial tone and noise on the line?

No problem. Do you just have the router connected or do you have other devices too?

OK thanks, do you just have the one telephone socket or do you also have extension socket(s)?

The line test is showing a possible line fault, is your router currently connected to the test socket if you have one - Your guide to main phone sockets - TalkTalk Help & Support

Hi Carl,

I can confirm that repair reference is correct and the fault ticket is showing that an engineer appointment is required

We can arrange the engineer visit for you if you prefer - we just need to confirm some details with you first
