Request from TalkTalk to book engineer

Message 35 of 35

Over the past two to three weeks I have had problems with connection dropping out intermittently, off for between 15mins and couple of hours. I initially tried re-setting router but problem persisted. I did a line test and Fault Tracker advised there was a fault (ref no REP-12631650) and TalkTalk are working on it.

I have now received a text  and email that a fault has been found and that I need to make an appointment for an Openreach engineer to visit because:

"we've discovered a fault in your area and need to send an engineer to your home to fix it"

The message gave a link to book the visit (talktalk.co.uk/bookengineer). I've not tried this link as I am suspicious of the message as the number seems to be related to some kind of scam.

Can anybody advise please?

Thanks

Carl

Hi Chris

Just for the sake of completeness and possible help to anybody reading this post.  Since I changed the micro-filter I have not noticed any connection issues at all so it seems likely that was the issue. I only found that by chance, doing something completely unrelated which meant I had to move the filter and noticed the connection re-instated, disappeared again when I moved it back.🤔

Thanks again for your time and help. Should the issue raise it's head again I'll post back.

Regards

Hi

Could we delay the engineer appointment? I put a new microfilter on yesterday teatime and so far no connection issues. I'd like to leave it now for a day or two and see what happens.  If the problem reappears I'll come back to you.

Thanks

Regards

Carl

I've responded to your PM and also set up a Telephone Pswd. I can confirm my mobile starts 0790 and ends 301. I've read the engineer's charges and confirm acceptance. We are usually free in afternoon between 1pm and 6pm.

Tks

Carl

Thanks. Could you advise under what circumstances I would be charged and what the charges might be?

Hi Carl,

If you'd like me to book the engineer visit can you confirm:

  • That you accept potential Engineers charges
  • Provide availability, either AM (8am to 1pm) or PM (1pm to 6pm) between Monday to Friday.
  • Confirm your mobile number

I've also sent you a PM to confirm some other details

Thanks

Lost connection again, currently using 4g mobile. How do we organise an engineer?

Thanks

I'll wait a couple of days and if still an issue will get back to you.

Thanks Chris

OK thanks Carl. Do you want to monitor for a couple of days to see if the disconnections continue or do you want to book an engineer now?

Thanks for trying that Carl, did you notice if there was any noise on the line or was it clear?
