Router fails to allocate an IP address for visiting devices

Router model:                   FAST 5364 Sagemcom

TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub

Hardware Version           FAST5364 3.00

Software Version             SG4K100136

GUI Version                       5.6.1

We were supplied with the above router several months ago due to connection issues.  Whilst having visitors at Christmas we noticed that people were unable to connect to our passworded wifi.  Investigations  showed that whilst DHCP is enabled the router  does not allocate an IP address to devices that are not included in the table of reserved IP addresses.  This applies to both wired Ethernet connections and WiFi connections.

In addition, the router deletes entries from the reserved IP address table if they are not used for a few days, and because DHCP does not work, they have to be re-entered into the reserved address table. Devices that are used regularly (daily or every few days) remain in the reserved IP address table.

This is very tiresome and unless someone has a solution it would appear that the router has a fault and therefore needs replacing.

Thank you for your help.  This seems to have worked for now.  If the problem reappears we'll be in touch.

Hi Barbs1

Please can you power down the router for a full 30 minutes and then retest again once the router has been switched back on?

Thank you. Will this definitely fix the problem?  Will we need to re-enter existing IP addresses and settings ie is it like a factory reset?

Hi Barbs1

Thanks for your reply.

I will start the update now and I will post back to confirm once it's completed.

You don't need to do anything on your end.

Our router is on all the time so anytime is good for us.  Please confirm that you are doing this update directly and that there is nothing we need to do our end.  Thanks.

Hi Barbs1

Sorry for the delay.

I will update your router firmware to the latest version, when would be the best time to do this?

We advise to leave the router switched on without being rebooted whilst we update the FW. This should take no longer than 15 minutes to update.

Thanks

OK, for the support team to do this you need to make sure that your personal details including TalkTalk phone number and/or account number are complete on your community profile (click here) so that they can link your forum identity with your account and then wait for them to respond.

No it's enabled.  Did switch off and turn back on to see if it made any difference.  Perhaps TalkTalk need to send us a firmware update?
