Router flashing orange (Urgent)

Hello,

My internet suddenly dropped and the router has been flashing orange for two hours. I have tried to reset, unplug, and tried the master socket test line but had no chance. Not sure but the router may be faulty as it does not turn white at all and keeps on power cycling.

I have the new wifi hub black router and on Fibre 65.

Can you please help me solve this issue?

Thank you.

Hi Phili,

Thank you very much for the new router. I have received this today and it is working fine. I believe my old router was faulty which was stuck in a booting cycle. This is all resolved now as the internet is back on.

Regards

@Veiled what I will do is to pause this case at the moment and send you a new router to check if it will work and if it does not please get back to us so that we can look at other options.

Sadly I do not have an extra microfilter to use. I only have one and that is connected to the Master socket.

I will take as you do not wish to re0-check and we wil proceed. We need to confirm the master socket isn't faulty. Do you have a microfilter that you could use?

These would be supplied with the router so may be in the box if you still have it.

I double checked they are both in perfect condition with no visible damage.

I can see your equipment setup was confirmed correct recently.

Do you want to recheck this?

I need to find out what type of master, or main, telephone socket you have so I can give the correct troubleshooting advice.

The master socket will be a white box on a wall, and is where the telephone line connects into your house from outside.

Please browse to https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Your-guide-to-main-phone-sockets/ta-p/2205432 - this page shows you images of the different socket types so you can identify which you have.

Can you confirm what type of master socket you have please?

As router checks haven't resolved the issue, the next step is to look at potential equipment damage and ensure it is connected correctly.

I'll guide you through the checks - ensuring any damage or setup issues that could have caused the disconnection from the Internet are identified and resolved.

If these steps don't resolve the issue then I'll look at other potential causes.

Thank you for providing that information, it might help along the way. An automated check is in progress to check if the router is able to connect to the Openreach street cabinet. This can take up to 3 minutes to complete. I'll let you know once it's finished.

As a change has been made the router will need to reconnect - this can take up to 6 minutes. If it connects sooner then we'll be able to progress once we see it connect.
