Accessing Tiscali and Talktalk emails on ipad ios9

Have been unable to download the above for a couple of months and have changed settings several times to no avail such that probably all mixed up now. I pad only refers to pop account information in the heading.

Really appreciate the feedback.

 

If a talktalk.net email account works satisfactorily then there's no reason to believe a tiscali.co.uk account wouldn't work.

 

The only differences will be the incoming port that is 993 for IMAP secure accounts and 995 for secure POP3 accounts and the password authentication that will be unique to each account. Just remember that each account has its own outgoing SMTP server because that server has to authenticate the sending account with the sending account password.

 

What error message do you see when trying to set up the tiscali email account?

Hi Gondola

At last managed to reset the ipad 2 ios 9.35 and have managed to get emails on partners talktalk account. However not on my tiscali account with settings given. Not really a problem but you asked for feedback.

OK, do let us know if the basic mail functionality is working.

 

I believe Open Xchange are recommending iOS 15 as a minimum system requirement to ensure that CalDAV and CardDAV will synchronise the Calendar and Address Book apps. I'm therefore interested to know if there are any issues with the Mail apps when using the earlier iOS versions.

Not sorted yet but suspect I have additional problem with the ipad storage which I need to address first.

OK, the port number 995 is correct for incoming secure (Use SSL) POP3 mail but the incoming server Host name should be mail.talktalk.net for both talktalk.net and tiscali.co.uk accounts.

 

CHECKING THE SETTINGS OF AN EXISTING ACCOUNT

  1. Open Settings
  2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars
  3. Select your email address
  4. Verify the Incoming Mail Server
    Host Name -
    mail.talktalk.net
    User Name  - This is your email address
    Password - This is your email password
    Use SSL is set to ON (green)
    Authentication - Password
    Server Port - 995 (POP3 secure)

    If you make any changes, select Done then continue to next step

  5. Verify the Outgoing Mail Server
    Select Outgoing Mail Server, then select SMTP, then Primary Server which is most likely marked smtp.talktalk.net
    Host Name - smtp.talktalk.net
    User Name  - This is your email address
    Password - This is your email password
    Use SSL is set to ON (green)
    Authentication - Password
    Server Port - 587
  6. Select Done 

Check the passwords are correct via the webmail sign in check.

Hope you got these ok Checked my tiscali webmail and is up to date. Couldn't access partners webmail as password wouldn't work.

In theory iOS 9 should work. However, the vendors of TalkTalk Mail, Open-Xchange, are now indicating that full support is for a minimum of iOS 15. 

 

If you wish to take screenshots of the incoming and outgoing server settings, image edit to obscure the first part of your email address and upload here using the camera icon (desktop mode) or picture icon (mobile mode) I'll take a look for you to get the settings that should work for POP3.

 

First, do check that the mailbox is fully functional via webmail.

 

Select here: Sign in to TalkTalk Mail

Enter your full TalkTalk Mail email address, select Continue and enter the password, select Sign in.
