Accessing tiscali emails from 2010s [forgotten email addresses]

I used to have broadband with TalkTalk and so naturally utilised the email services provided with it. Many of my accounts on the internet have used these emails however some login with a username as opposed to the email. As a result, when attempting to login to some of these accounts, I cannot remember the password and need to reset it, but I do not remember the email address that I used.

I want to be able to access my TalkTalk Mailbox Manager through MyAccount, but I don't remember the credentials to do so as I left TalkTalk in 2012. If I could do this then I could naturally manage all of my emails and all would be well.

Despite many many hours on Live Chat and on telephone, nobody has been able to assist me to access my email service again. While I remember parts of emails, I cannot fully confirm what the entire email is, and while I have been told I am close to getting it by agents, seemingly I have never correctly stated it and therefore have never progressed past this point.

Agents were more than happy however to sign me up for Mail Plus, I have not yet paid this and there are no payment options on the account to take money from it but any option for cancelling it or renewing it is out of my hands.

I really need to access my Tiscali emails and would appreciate any advice or efforts that could be made to achieve this. As it is well over a decade ago, I have no records of what any of the emails were. There are no bills or correspondence remaining, any emails would be locked behind another old email I cannot access, and all correspondence would have been long gone.

I am completely stuck and really need help.

// I am aware these emails would be deactivated, but agents have confirmed their existence on multiple occasions and I believe they would be accessible if I could manage them through Mailbox Manager.

Thank you for reaching out regarding your email access. I understand your concerns about the Mailbox Manager and the existing inboxes.

After reviewing your account, I can confirm that only the current email address is visible, and the email you address you request is not visible nor traceable especially when you don't know it. To assist you further, I recommend contacting our customer service team directly. They will be able to provide you with the necessary support and guidance regarding your email accounts.

But the email is there, along with the other ones. I think it is incredibly likely that access to the Mailbox Manager would allow me to re-enable the existing inboxes. But I cannot do that.

Hey there, @kd611. Even on that account it is difficult to trace your email address.

Please add the old account number in Private Notes in Personal Information, so that @kanya-TT can take a look at it, @kd611. Remember to SAVE CHANGES.

I have the account number and access to the MyAccount for it.

I cannot access the Mailbox Manager though, of course. So it is pretty much useless.

That's again a very unlikely thing we can do here on our end. Do you remember the account number of the account it was linked to it,

If you do do not reply with it update on your profile under the private note section.

I have tried every variation that would be likely. I never receive a password reset email and when Live Chat agents have added recovery details, I never receive them either. So, I really don't know what to do.

We have no devices remaining that would ever have accessed TalkTalk.

There is no record of communications with this email, as everyone I contacted on that email, has since gone through multiple different emails of their own.

In terms of other accounts.. yes, but they do not provide the email, like TalkTalk. best I get is along the lines of a******@tiscali.co.uk

Thank you for your input @fr8ys and yes, we have limitations  @kd611  we face in providing account information due to GDPR regulations. I appreciate your patience as we navigate this situation.

While I understand that forgetting both your email address and password can be frustrating, here are a few additional suggestions that might help you recover your email address:

  1. Check Other Accounts: If you have linked your TalkTalk email to any other accounts (like social media or online services), you might find your email address listed in the account settings or recovery options.
  2. Contact Friends or Family: As mentioned earlier, reaching out to friends or family who may have communicated with you via email could be beneficial. They might have your email address saved in their contacts or could forward you previous emails.
  3. Look for Old Devices: If you have any old devices (like a smartphone or tablet) where you might have logged into your email, checking those devices could help you retrieve your email address.
  4. Try Common Variations: If you remember part of your email address, consider trying common variations or formats you might have used.

Not sure how knowing the password would help having forgotten the email that unlocks it but ok.

I would agree with @fr8ys  - GDPR will override everything at this stage, and was introduced since these addresses were set up.

I cannot imagine how they would be retrievable.

Hey there, @kd611, you've forgotten both your email address and password?

If I did, that would be sent to the Tiscali email that I do not have access to. So I can't answer that question.

@kd611 did you receive an email advising you to sign up to EveryMail?

Nobody would have this email address logged anywhere.

The only hints I receive only provide the first letter and tiscali.co.uk, both of which I obviously know.

I am able to provide various forms of identification that match the account and billing information, which should really be sufficient to provide me with my login details.

Unfortunately if youve forgotten the address, TalkTalk probably cant divulge it to you under GDPR regulations as to do so would leave them in breach and open to serious fines.

They have to protect themselves as well as customers information and imagine someone who knew your details phoned and said the email was theirs but couldn't pass validation, but they gave up that information. You'd rightly be annoyed.

It's for this reason validation is required and if you can't remember your email details, then as they have said, they can't tell you.

maybe one of your friends has emails going back that far they can forward to you or may have it in their email address book?
